80,000 euros for flood victims – We are supporting the Altenahr municipal association
There is no end to the problems of the flood victims on the Ahr. Most of the 11,500 inhabitants in the municipalities belonging to the Altenahr association (Rhineland-Palatinate) have been affected by the flood. That is why we have donated 80,000 euros to the Altenahr disaster relief fund. Last year, we helped a relief transport by supplying material.
“The consequences of the flood are still mind-boggling,” says Cornelia Weigand, mayor of the municipality and newly elected district administrator. “The catastrophe has hit our region to the core, right at the heart of our homeland. Even though some things have already been done, we are still far from normality. At the same time, the great kindness and willingness to help that we are experiencing gives us hope, strength and confidence.”
Our Managing Director Werner Mäurer was visibly moved by his visit to the heavily affected area. “You realise how valuable home is when it is suddenly gone. You can only endure not having a street and a house if you are not alone. HIWIN cannot help on the ground. But we can contribute a little so work can be done there. That is why we have donated 200 euros for each of our employees. So with 400 employees, that amounts to 80,000 euros.”
We are happy to be able to make a small contribution to normality.
